About The Artist

Gabe Perillo's work is known world wide, and he has painted the greatest athletes of all time. His works include greats such as Rocky Marciano, Muhammad Ali, Walter Payton Joe DiMaggio and countless others. He was the staff artist for Ring Magazine between 1969 and 1979 when it was under Nat Fleisher, and his paintings donned the cover many times during that period. Recently, he was commissioned by ESPN to do art for "The Fifty Greatest Athletes of the Century" and "Classic Sports Moments in History". This led to his current project, ESPN's "Sports Century Series". He is also the official artist for the Downtown Athletic Club, home of the Heisman Trophy.

Although Mr. Perillo's art covers a wide range of sports from horse racing to golf, his first love is boxing. He was first bitten by the sport almost fifty years ago when he witnessed the heavyweight championship bout between Rocky Marciano and Jersey Joe Walcott. "I place the Marciano - Walcott bout, along with The Thriller in Manila, as two of my favorite heavyweight fights of all time. That is why I'm excited to be able to share two of my favorite fights, and an important part of boxing history, through our new web site."
